Smokefree recommendations from NAMHSCA Consumer Advisor perspective
NAMHSCA offers recommendations as a Consumer Advisor perspective on best practice: 1. To assist DHBs to implement Smokefree services, and 2.To help ensure that mental health service users receive consistent, humane management of their nicotine dependence. These recommendations are congruent with the MOH target for offering hospitalised smokers advice and support to quit.

Credentialing Publication
The MOH recently released its publication The Credentialling Framework for New Zealand Health Professionals. This includes a specific reference to the Colleges current accreditation, certification and credentialing project, noting that this is the first piece of substantive work on accreditation and credentialling by a specialist nursing college in New Zealand (page 40). Metabolic Monitoring - a letter from NZCMHN outling the College position on this topic
A College letter to Waikato DHB outlining our support for screening and ongoing monitoring, to detect at the earliest possible point recognition and management, of metabolic (and other) complications for people who are receiving antipsychotic medications as per the New Zealand Mental Health Metabolic Working Initiative Consensus Statement (2008).
